SR 56 Extension Opening: Inaugural Walk/Run and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Wiregrass Inaugural Walk RunPlease join us this Saturday morning, July 31, to celebrate the opening of the new State Road 56 extension! Wiregrass Ranch, in partnership with the Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce, will hold a celebratory inaugural walk/run at 9 a.m. to commemorate the opening of the State Road 56 extension in Pasco County. The privately funded and constructed roadway was one of the largest road projects in Pasco County in nearly 20 years.

The walk/run will be a 4-mile loop, with optional 2- and 1-mile loops, beginning at Mansfield Boulevard and the new extension of State Road 56. After the walk/run at 10:30 a.m., there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony with county officials, local dignitaries, including state representative Will Weatherford, and members of the chamber discussing the economic benefits of the new extension, which opens the south-central Pasco County.

Many local business and restaurants will be on display and there will be free food from some favorite local restaurants, including Publix, Cosi' Cafe, Juice Zone, Bagelicious, McDonalds, Boardwalk Frozen Custard, and others. Bring the kids for family friendly activities!

We look forward to seeing you there as we celebrate this much anticipated day in our community!

Porter Family Donates Land For PHCC

Pasco-Hernando Community CollegeThe continued vision and focus of the Porter family on community enrichment was a driving force behind the recent donation of land to Pasco-Hernando Community College.

The site donated by the Porter family consists of 60+ acres of contiguous property upon which Pasco-Hernando Community College will build a state-of-the-art learning facility with the possibility of offering four-year degrees. Along with providing rich educational opportunities for the community, a site this large will create many jobs for the county, an important factor as the focus remains on developing business in the area.

The location of the site is proximate to Wiregrass Ranch High School and John Long Middle School. It is rare to find anywhere within the state of Florida a learning facility that encompasses both education and employment opportunities to such a magnitude.

The Wesley Chapel campus will be PHCC’s fifth campus. The community college currently has campuses in New Port Richey, Spring Hill, Brooksville, and Dade City.
